Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on May 29, 2024 from approximately 10:45am to 11:40am. At the time of the inspection, 7 children were in care with 2 staff members present. Inspected today were the physical plant, 5 children?s records and 2 staff records, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies, medications, and medication authorization records. Children were observed during snack time, engaged in group play time. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in CPR, 1st Aid, and MAT. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice.

The provider is reminded that a complete renewal application must be submitted prior to expiration of the license on July 20, 2024. Renewal applications should be submitted through the online portal available on the public website at childcareva.com.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-A
Description: Based on a review of staff records, all staff have not undergone a background check every five years.

Evidence: Based on review of the staff files, staff #1 (exp 02/24) and #2 (exp 02/24) did not have an updated Central Registry check.

Plan of Correction: Provider will follow-up with Central Registry to obtain the completed searches for both staff.
