This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A renewal inspection was initiated on July 16, 2021 and concluded on July 16, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 36 children present, ranging in ages from 16 months to twelve years, with eight staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of three child records and five staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-E Description: Based on review of nonmedical emergency supplies and interview, the center did have one working, battery-operated radio in each building used by children.
Evidence:
1. The battery operated radio on site was not operational as the batteries were dead.
2. The administrator stated she did not have any additional batteries that would fit the radio.Plan of Correction: Per the administrator: I will purchase additional batteries for the radio and ensure it is operational.
