Technical Assistance given and licensing standards regarding outdoor play and staff trainings printed and kept in staff records.

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on October 2, 2023, from 7:30am to approximately 09:45m. There were currently 6 children present at the daycare with 3 staff members. With the before and after school children today, there are 16 children total. The Inspector reviewed four children?s records and five staff records. The Inspector observed the interaction of staff and children throughout the inspection. Children were observed group activity, free play, and breakfast. There are no medications administered at this time. Transportation is provided to and from school. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. The violation was discussed with the owner/director at the exit interview.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-140-A Description: Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that each child shall have a physical examination by or under the direction of a physician within 30 days after the first day of attendance.
Evidence:
1. Child #1 (date of enrollment 7/06/2021) did not have a physical examination document in their record.
2. Staff #1 confirmed there is no physical examination for Child #1 in the record.Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff #1 will obtain the physical examination for Child #1 and place it in the child?s record.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence:
1. There is peeling paint in the toddler room which is in reach of children in care.
2. There are small holes near the entrance and children?s cubbies that need to be filled which are in reach of children in care.
3. Staff #1 confirmed that there is peeling paint and holes on the wall near the entrance and children?s cubbies.Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: A work order will be put in and the Director will ensure that the paint is touched up and the holes are filled to the walls and repainted. The holes are from pictures being hung up and will be replaced.
