Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. The statutory requirement can be found online at https://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title22.1/chapter14.1/section22.1-289.057/.

Comments:
An unannounced on-site renewal inspection was initiated and completed on September 11, 2024. The on-site inspection began at 9:30am and ended at 11:30am. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 11 children present and 3 caregivers; the point total was 33. The inspector reviewed 10 children's records and 3 caregiver records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the home, interviews, and observations.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-780-B
Description: Based on record review, annually, the provider did not review with the parent the emergency contact information as required to ensure the information is correct.
Evidence:
1. The record for child #1, #3, and #4 did not have documentation of an annual review of the emergency contact information. The last documented review was 05/01/2023.

Plan of Correction: I will contact the parent now and have them to review today upon pick-up.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-320-B
Description: Based on observation, child-resistant protective covers larger than 1-1/14 inches in diameter were not installed on all unused electrical outlets accessible to children under five years of age.
Evidence:
1. The electrical outlet near the patio door did not have a protective cover on one outlet.

Plan of Correction: We vacuum the carpet and forgot to put it back on. I'll do it now.
Violation was corrected during inspection.
