A complaint inspection was initiated on 10/28/22 and completed on 10/28/22. Interviews with staff and review of classrooms were conducted to review a complaint that the center is not following ratio requirements.
A violation resulted from this investigation and is found on the violation notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-350-C Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on staff interviews and review of documentation the center failed to ensure that mixed age ratios were being met as required.
Evidence:
Interview with staff determined that for the first hour of each day and the last 30 minutes of each day, when the children aged 2yrs-5yrs are in a mixed age grouping, that the ratio of the lowest age is not followed as required.
1. Staff stated that most mornings from 7:30am-8:30am and most afternoons from 5pm-5:30pm the ratio is not met in the 2yr-5yr age grouping as they are short staffed.
2. Staff stated that if a classroom goes over ratio the director immediately works to fix the issue by moving children to other classrooms and filling in to meet ratios.
3. Staff stated that hiring is occurring and that schedules have been adjusted to help with the morning and afternoon ratio issues.Plan of Correction: Hiring is occurring as we have had staff leave without notice. We are working diligently to ensure ratios are met daily. Schedules have been adjusted to ensure that the morning and afternoon ratios are being met as well.
