This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on December 14, 2020 and concluded on December 16, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 10 children present and 5 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records, 2 staff records and the background checks for 3 persons as part of the renewal process, these records were submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on a record review and interview with center director/owner, the licnesee did not ensure the center maintained and kept a separate record for each child enrolled with required information.
Evidence: The record for child #2 did not include documentation of viewing proof of the child's identity and age.Plan of Correction: Parent provided proof of birth documentation.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based on record review and interviews with center director /owner, the licnesee did not ensure the child day center obtained a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check and sex offender registry check from any state in which the applicant has resided in the preceding five years prior to employment.
Evidence: The record for staff #1 who lived outside of the state within the last 5 years (New York) did not have documentation of a sex offender registry or criminal history check conducted. The record for staff #2 who lived outside of the state within the last 5 years (North Carolina) did not have documentation of a sex offender registry. Center director/ owner confirmed Staff #1 and #2 were working during the inspection.Plan of Correction: Submitted background documentation to North Carolina and New York. Staff will remain home until thecenter obtains a copy of the appropriate background documentation to ensure the safety of the children.
