This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A monitoring inspection was conducted on March 23, 2022. There were 33 children present, ranging in age from 2 months to 5 years and in the care of 8 staff members. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staff qualifications, staffing and supervision, programming, special services, medications, special care provisions and emergencies. A total of 3 children's records, 2 complete staff records, and 2 partial staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined a non-compliance with applicable standards or law and the violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-F Description: Based on an interview and review of medication and medication authorizations for two children, the center did not ensure that two medication authorizations were available to staff for one child.
Evidence:
1. A prescription emergency medication and a non-prescription emergency medication were observed for Child A. There was no written parental authorization present for either medication.
2. During interview, a staff member reported the parental authorizations for the medications were not present.Plan of Correction: The staff will ensure that at pick-up time today they will have the parent sign the authorization forms for each medication.
