A blank copy of the emergency drill log and the training log was emailed to the provider.

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 2/16/2022 from 11:00am-12:00pm. There were 3 children (8 points) directly supervised by the provider. The home, 1 staff record, 2 children?s records, 3 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely and eating lunch. There was an adequate supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Evidence:
Child #1's record is missing the mother's work phone number, the medical insurance policy number and one emergency contact.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-240-A Description: Based on observation, areas and furnishings of the family day home, were not maintained in a safe, and operable condition.
Evidence:
In the programming area, an area of 3 inches in diameter of peeling paint was observed next to the door that leads to the second floor.Plan of Correction: We have covered the area, it's not accessible to children anymore.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-280 Description: Based on observations, there was a deodorizer stored in an area accessible to children.
Evidence:
A can of deodorizer spray was observed accessible to children, in the programming area sitting on top of the children's kitchen set.Plan of Correction: It was removed during the inspection.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-430-B Description: Based on observation and interview, a pressure mounted gate was used as a protective barrier at a stair opening.
Evening.
The provider confirmed that a gate that was leaning next to the stairs that lead to the home's deck is used as a protective barrier when the children play outside.Plan of Correction: We will use hardware to secure the gate.
