During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on 12/2/2024. on-site inspection began at 11:30am and ended at 12:35pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 4 children present and 1 caregiver; the point total was 8. The inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 2 caregiver/household member(s) records on-site.

This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22.1-289.011-F
Description: The provider shall post the program license and the findings of the most recent inspection in a conspicuous place on the licensed premises.

The program license and the most recent licensing inspection of the facility was not posted in the family day home available for review.

Plan of Correction: I already posted the inspection report next to the license for clear visibility and compliance.

Standard #: 8VAC20-770-40-D-5
Description: The provider shall ensure that a child protective services (CPS) central registry search is obtained for all household members over the age of 14 years.

A central registry search was not obtained for Household Member #1 after turning 14 years of age. The check was overdue by over 1 year.

Plan of Correction: I am in the process of obtaining my 15-year-old central registry search and will send it to you soon.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-A
Description: Emergency evacuation procedures shall be practiced monthly with all caregivers and children in care during all shifts that children are in care.

There was no documented emergency evacuation drills conducted for June, July, August September, October and November of 2024.

Plan of Correction: I will confirm that the emergency evacuation drills has been printed and appropriately filed for record-keeping.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-900-B
Description: Children shall not be allowed to eat or drink while walking, running, playing, lying down, or riding in vehicles.

4 children were observed walking around while eating snack.

Plan of Correction: During the visit, the children became a bit hyper and started following me around,
which is not their usual behavior. Moving forward, I will ensure that the children remain seated while eating to maintain proper discipline and safety.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-680-A
Description: Caregivers shall wash their hands with liquid soap and warm running water before preparing and serving food.

The provider was observed serving snack to children but did not wash hands prior to.

Plan of Correction: We will ensure proper handwashing procedures are followed in the future to maintain hygiene and safety standards.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-680-B
Description: Caregivers shall ensure that children?s hands are washed with liquid soap and warm running water before eating.

4 children were observed receiving snack and did not wash hands prior to eating.

Plan of Correction: We will ensure proper handwashing procedures are followed in the future to maintain hygiene and safety standards.
