An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 12:45 pm-4: 00pm. There were 40 children directly supervised by 7 staff. The physical plant, staff records, children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating at naptime, reading books, doing yoga, and quiet activities for non-sleepers. Parent pick up was also observed. Self care and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an ample supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-M Description: Based on observation and review of allergy lists, the center did not maintain a current list of children's allergies.
Evidence: The allergy list posted in classrooms included an allergy listed for a child that is believed to no longer have an allergy. The last update allergy plan and administration form expired 11/2/2023.Plan of Correction: We have asked parent to update all information to document if child still needs medication.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: Based on observation, areas of the center were not maintained.
Evidence:
The handrail to the stairs leading out to the playground had peeling paint and areas of rust.Plan of Correction: We have tried painting and it peels off. We will make a request to have handrails painted.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-420-E-3 Description: Based on review of children's records, the program did not document confirmation of up to date information in the child's record.
Evidence: Child A's record did not have documentation of annual update ( last update 10/31/2022)Plan of Correction: We are working on hard copy records that will show documentation.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-530-A-1 Description: Based on records reviewed, current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation ( CPR) did not include training in-person competency demonstration.
Evidence:
Staff A did not have an in person skills component as required.Plan of Correction: We enrolled in Child Care Aware Classes for the staff.
