An unannounced non-mandated focused inspection was conducted due to the center being on a Conditional License 3/22/2023 from 10:15am through 11:05am. There were 42 children directly supervised by 10 staff and all classrooms were in ratio. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, and 2 staff records were inspected. Previous corrective actions were verified. Children were observed painting bunny crafts and participating in center play. Positive interactions between children and staff were observed during this inspection. There was an abundant supply of age appropriate materials for the children and the center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-330-B Description: Based on an inspection of the playground, it was determined that the mulch under and around play equipment was not resilient.
Evidence:
1. The depth of mulch was measured in two spots around the swing set on the larger playground and measurements were 0" and 2" of resilient surfacing.
2. The depth of mulch was measured in two spots around around the composite play structure on the larger playground and measurements were 1" and 0.5".
3. The 1' pink slide on the smaller playground only had 0.5" of resilient surfacing.
4. The 2' red slide on the smaller playground only had 0.5" of resilient surfacing.Plan of Correction: Daily inspection of playgrounds to assure mulch is replaced under and around equipment.
