Reminder that according to VA Licensing standard 8VAC20-780-330.F, facilities shall provide a shady area during the months of June, July, and August for the children in the outdoor play space.
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. An unannounced focus inspection was conducted on June 5, 2024, from 8:50am-9:15am. At the time of the inspection, 93 children were in care with 20 staff members present. Inspected today were 5 staff records for background checks and TB results. Children were observed during breakfast time, engaged in group singing and indoor play time. There was an assortment of age-appropriate materials for the children in care.
The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.
