This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an hybrid inspection protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews, and an on-site inspection.
A renewal inspection was initiated on March 17, 2022 and concluded on March 29, 2022. The director was contacted by telephone and sent requested documentation. There were 30 children present, ranging in ages from 9 months to five years of age, with 11 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and eight staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-330-B Description: Based on measurements taken and confirmation from staff, the center failed to keep the required amount of resilient surfacing in the fall zones of the play equipment.
Evidence:
1. The resilient surfacing at the end of both slides measured 3 inches. The required amount is 6 inches.
2. The resilient surfacing underneath and around the climbing structure measured 2.5 inches. The required amount is 6 inches.
3. The resilient surfacing at the end slide on the one year old's playground measured 2 inches. The required amount is 6 inches.Plan of Correction: Administration has ordered the resilient surfacing, and work with the maintenance worker to get the resilient surfacing spread.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-D Description: Based on a review of evacuation drills, the center failed to ensure that a monthly evacuation drill was completed once a month.
Evidence:
1. There was not documentation that a November 2021 evacuation drill had been completed.
2. Staff verified that there was not an evacuation drill completed for November 2021.Plan of Correction: Administration will use a two tier system of check and balances with office administration to ensure that one monthly evacuation drills are completed.
