The Code of Virginia § 32.1-162.19(E) requires that the VDSS Institutional Review Board (IRB) "shall ensure that an overview of human research projects and the results of such projects are made public on the institution's or agency's website." This only applies to studies that are approved through expedited or full board review.
For projects approved by the VDSS IRB, the investigator is required to submit a brief summary of its findings to the Chairperson at the completion of the study. The findings may be of interest to policymakers and the general public.
Here are projects that were closed and submitted findings. The findings are available in any of the following formats: a brief (1-2 page) abstract, an internal report, a Powerpoint presentation, or a published, peer-reviewed journal article available on other public web sites. The primary author's last name and institutional affiliation are listed in parentheses. The fiscal year references the year when the study was initially approved by the IRB.
