Take steps to protect your EBT card and SNAP benefits.
The federal program that allowed the Virginia Department of Social Services to replace missing or stolen SNAP EBT funds ended Dec. 20, 2024. While the federal replacement funds program has ended and the Commonwealth does not have funding to replace EBT benefits, local departments of social services can continue accepting SNAP fraud replacement documentation for claims made by SNAP households covering benefits stolen between Oct. 1, 2022, and Dec. 20, 2024.
Scammers are attempting to steal card benefits nationwide by tricking you into sharing your EBT card number and/or PIN. The USDA is actively monitoring this fraudulent activity and has created this dedicated webpage to keep the public informed.
