Technical Assistance:

Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 06/04/2024. There were 6 children, ages 3 years- 8 years, totaling 9 points, and one caregiver present during the inspection. The children were observed during child-directed and teacher-directed activities. The inspector discussed the following with the provider: children?s records. The inspector arrived at approximately 9:15 am and departed at approximately 10:15 am. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Description:	REPEAT VIOLATION Based on record review, the provider failed to ensure that required background checks are repeated every 5 years per the Code of Virginia. Evidence: 1. The most recent search of the central registry for Caregiver 1 was dated 09/21/2018; there was not a 2023 repeat search of the central registry available for review during the inspection. 2. The most recent eligibility letter for Caregiver 1 was dated 09/24/2018; there was no 2023 employment eligibility letter available for review during the inspection. 3. The most recent search of the central registry for Household Member 1 was dated 09/27/2018; there was not a 2023 repeat search of the central registry available for review during the inspection. 4. The most recent eligibility letter for Household Member 1 was dated 09/24/2018; there was no 2023 employment eligibility letter available for review during the inspection.
