Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 04/08/2024 from 9:20 AM to 1:10 PM. There were 83 children present, ranging in ages from six months to five years, with 14 staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and training, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, and special care and emergencies. A total of eight children?s records, five children?s medications, and nine staff?s records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-G
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure medication is labeled with the child's name and the dosage amount.

Evidence:

The medication for MAT 3 did not have the child's name and dosage amount listed on the medication.

Plan of Correction: The medication was labeled immediately. In the future the administration will ensure all new medication that comes into the facility is labeled with the child's name and dosage.

Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to maintain documentation of emergency evacuation drills.

Evidence:

The documentation of emergency evacuation drills were reviewed. The documentation did not contain information regarding a drill being conducting in March 2024. The administrator stated one was completed but she forgot to document the drill.

Plan of Correction: The emergency drill log will be updated and all future drills will be documented as they are completed.
