Potable Water Lead Testing Requirements The VDOE recently distributed memos to licensed child day programs, certified preschools and religiously exempt child day centers, sharing the requirement to develop and implement a plan to test potable water pursuant to ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia. The VDOE will begin determining compliance with this statute effective January 1, 2025. The memos can be found on the VDOE child care website: www.childcare.virginia.gov. New: MAT Seizure Rescue Nasal Spray Online Course The Medication Administration Training (MAT) Program recently announced the new MAT Seizure Rescue Nasal Spray (SRNS) online course. The training is available for free on the MAT Online Learning Center and will enable MAT-Certified providers to administer this emergency medication quickly and correctly in the event of an emergency seizure situation.

Comments:

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted 6/11/2024 between the hours of 1:10pm through 2:00pm. There were a total of 7 children present, ranging in age from 5 months to 11 years (14 points) with the Provider and 1 assistant. A total of 6 children?s files and 4 staff files were reviewed. The children were observed napping throughout the inspection. Infant care including infant feeding was also observed. Positive interactions between caregivers and children were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the programming space, children and staff records, emergency drills, menu, attendance, and emergency procedures were completed today. No new staff have been hired since the last inspection. The provider advised there was no medication on site today. There was an adequate supply of age appropriate materials and toys. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Please complete the columns for "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" for each violation cited on the Violation Notice, and then return a signed and dated copy to the licensing office by 5pm on 7/2/2024. Evidence: Household Member #2 has resided in the home longer than 30 days and did not have central registry results on file at the time of inspection.
