Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-E Description: Based on review of seven medications and medication authorizations, the center did not ensure that procedures for administering long-term prescription medication were followed. Evidence: Long-term prescription medication use is allowed with written authorization from the child's physician and parent. The authorization for an emergency inhaler for Child A contained documentation that the authorization expired on 11/11/22. Plan of Correction: We were aware of the expiration date and spoke with the parent who already had an appointment scheduled for 11/21/22. The new authorization form was received on 11/23/22. In the future we will have the parent complete a temporary authorization until the new long-term form is received.
