An unannounced complaint inspection was initiated on 05/30/2024 in response to a complaint received regarding care of children. There were a total of 12 children (27 points) observed with 1 caregiver upon arrival, and 3 caregivers by the end of the inspection. The children were engaged in the following: transition to lunch time. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical environment, care of children. Interviews conducted during the inspection determined the complaint is not valid. Violations not related to the complaint can be found on the violation notice.
Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today in order for it to be included on the website. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-570-A Complaint related: No Description: REPEAT VIOLATION
Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that each caregiver does not exceed 16 points.
Evidence:
1. When the inspector arrived at approximately 12:00 pm caregiver #2 was observed with 12 children (27 points) for approximately 7 minutes before caregiver #3 was present in the family day home.
2. Caregiver #2 confirmed that she was alone with the children from approximately 11:45 am - 12:07 pm while caregiver #3 cleaned up the outside area from outdoor play time.
3. Caregiver #1 arrived to the family day home at approximately 12:20 pm.Plan of Correction: I'm going to train the assistant, that the cleaning duties are not done when the children are present.
