22.1 Background Checks Code, Carbon Monoxide

Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted 5/16/2024 between the hours of 12:50pm through 1:45pm. There were a total of 3 children present (6 points), ranging in age from 2 years to 4 years old, with the Provider. A total of 3 children?s files, 1 staff files, and 3 household member?s files were reviewed. The children were learning and participating in housekeeping tasks and
wearing hats to celebrate "Hat Day" as the letter of the day is "H". Children were also observed handwashing and eating lunch. Children were observed handwashing and eating lunch during the inspection as well. Positive interactions between the provider and children were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the programming space, children and staff records, emergency drills, menu, attendance, and emergency procedures were completed today. Inspection of the one crib on site and it was determined to be in compliance with CPSC standards. No new staff have been hired since the last inspection. The provider advised there was no medication on site today. There was an abundant supply of age appropriate materials and toys. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on record review, the provider did not obtain updated Tuberculosis (TB) screening results every two years for each caregiver and adult household member.

Evidence: Staff #1's most recent TB test was completed 4/19/2022 and Adult Household Member #1's most recent TB test was completed 4/19/2022.

Plan of Correction: My staff and I have an upcoming appointment. Once I obtain the results, I will place the results in my files.
