The Virginia Annual Health and Safety Update Training is a follow-up to the Virginia Preservice Training for Childcare Staff (10 hour) course. This training course is required for all staff that work directly with children in a childcare program (center-based and family day homes) that participates in the Virginia Childcare Subsidy Program (aka subsidy vendors). VDOE Licensing Inspectors will verify that existing subsidy vendors, and their staff who work directly with children to have a certificate of completion for this training. The 2024 training has been available since 4/15/2024.

A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was conducted on June 26, 2024 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. There were 58 children present with 9 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.
