Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that areas of the center shall be maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
1. A crib was placed in front of the emergency exit door in the infant classroom when this room was viewed at 10:25 am on 01/26/2021.
a. This is a fire safety hazard in the event that the children need to be evacuated quickly out of the classroom.Plan of Correction: The crib was moved during the inspection. Staff will be reminded not to place any equipment in front of the emergency exit door.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1721.1-B-4 Description: Based on record review, the center failed to obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check and sex offender registry check from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years. The results must be obtained before the individual begins employment or volunteer service.
Evidence:
1. Staff 1 has a hire date of 01/11/2021. The results of a criminal record check and sex offender check from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania were obtained on 01/22/2021.
a. Staff 1 indicated on her sworn statement or affirmation she had resided in Pennsylvania within the past five years.Plan of Correction: Going forward out-of-state background checks will be obtained prior to employment.
