Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection, non mandated was conducted on 5/30/2024 from 11:00 to 12:00. The provider was not present in the home at the beginning of the inspection. 2 caregivers were present with 9 children, totaling 23 points. The children were observed playing with playdough, making puzzles and playing with the caregivers. The provider arrived, but is sick today, she has moved to a new house but returns every day for childcare. Discussed the need for her to be living in the home if she is operating a family day home. A violation notice was given to the provider along with the inspection summary, The provider has 5 days to submit the corrective action plan, and return the paperwork to the licensing inspector.

Description: Based on the observation and interview with provider, she is currently following the terms of her license.
Evidence: According to the provider she is no longer residing the home she is using for child care. Her family has moved to a different home in a different part of Fairfax county.
