Code of Virginia (63.2-1509): Any teacher or other person employed in a public or private school, kindergarten, or child day program, as that term is defined in ? 22.1-289.02, who, in their professional or official capacity, have reason to suspect that a child is an abused or neglected child, shall report the matter immediately to the local department of the county or city wherein the child resides or wherein the abuse or neglect is believed to have occurred or to the Department's toll-free child abuse and neglect hotline.
Code of Virginia (22.1-289.045): No child day program or family day system shall retaliate in any manner against any person who in good faith
reports child abuse or neglect.

An unannounced inspection was initiated on 11/20/23 with a local agency based on a self-report made by the center following an allegation of a forbidden action-rough handling of a child in care. Interviews were conducted and two staff records were reviewed. There was insufficient evidence to support the allegation, and no violations were cited.
