*Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. The statutory requirement can be found online at https://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title22.1/chapter14.1/section22.1-289.057/.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. There were 14 children present (including 3 resident children) for a total of 46 points with 3 caregivers.Children were observed playing outside, washing hands, eating lunch and preparing for rest time. 3 caregiver, 1 household member and 9 child records were reviewed. See Violation notice for non-compliances cited today. It is recommended that you review all records in preparation for your upcoming renewal inspection. Due to caseload adjustments, your next inspection will be with a different inspector. LI was present today from 10:42 AM - 12:50 PM.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-940-A
Description: Based on observation the temperature was not maintained at or below 40 degrees in the refrigerator compartments and at or below 0 degrees in the freezer compartments.
Evidence:
The refrigerator temperature registered 48 degrees on the thermometer.
The freezer temperature registered 10 degrees on the thermometer.

Plan of Correction: The temperature will be turned down to make it colder.

Description: Based on a review of records, child records did not contain documentation of updated immunizations.
Evidence:
There were no updated immunization records, every 6 months for children under two years of age. (Children # 10, 11)

Plan of Correction: I will ask the parents to provide updated shot records.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-180-A
Description: Based on a review of caregiver records, caregivers did not obtain a current Tuberculosis (TB) screening result every two years.
Evidence:
Caregiver A's TB result was dated 1/28/22 (expired).
Caregiver B's TB result was dated 2/1/22 (expired).

Plan of Correction: Caregiver B has had a new test done, and it waiting on the results.
Caregiver A has an appointment scheduled to get a new test.
