Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance provided to discuss the requirement of orientation training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as appropriate to the age of the children in care for staff within 30 days of the first day of employment.

Comments:
An announced monitoring inspection was conducted on 6/3/24. A review of staff personnel files was conducted by inspectors, Keesha Minor, Jessica Willis, Sarah Zirzow and Mahrukh Aziz at the Campagna office.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-160-C
Description: Based on file review, the center did not ensure that at least every two years from the date of the initial screening or testing, or more frequently if recommended by a licensed physician or the local health department, staff members and individuals from independent contractors shall obtain and submit the results of a follow-up tuberculosis screening as stated in subsection B.

Evidence:
Staff #5 had a TB test on file which expired 11/16/23 and did not obtain a new TB test until 12/18/23.

Plan of Correction: In coordination with the Director of Human Resources, the Site Director will ensure that staff complete their TB testing requirements within the two-year period.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-240-C
Description: Based on file review, staff orientation training did not include the required components.

Evidence:
Reviewed 6 staff records and found that Staff #3, Staff #4, and Staff #5 did not have documentation of all the required facility topics listed in the standards as of 10/13/2021, i.e. safe sleep, procedures to cope with crying babies or distraught children.

Plan of Correction: The Child Care Virginia Orientation Written Policy form will be used by the Early Childhood Program staff at Campagna Center.

The form will be provided to current and newly hired employees.
