Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided regarding keeping a daily schedule and routine with the children.

Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted today between 9:00am and 10:15am. There were 9 children present with 3 caregivers supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed in free play. A total of 4 child records and 4 caregiver/household member records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Violations:
Standard #: 22.1-289.058
Description: Based on observation, the family day home that was build before 2015 does not have at least one carbon monoxide detector.
Evidence
There are no carbon monoxide detectors in the family day home.

Plan of Correction: I will order a carbon monoxide detector today and install it as soon as it is received.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-90-A
Description: Based on review of four children's records, the family day home did not obtain documentation that the child has been adequately immunized according to the Code of Virginia.
Evidence
Child #2, first day of attendance 7/3/2023, does not have documentation of being adequately immunized.

Plan of Correction: We have asked the parent for the record, she said she will bring it this week or Monday.
We will make sure we have a current immunization record for each child before their first day of attendance.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-90-C
Description: Based on review of four children's records, the family day home did not obtain documentation of additional immunizations for a child who is under the age of two every six months.
Evidence
Child #1 date of birth 8/29/22, has been in care since 11/28/2022 and does not have documentation on an updated immunization record. Documentation in record is dated 1/9/2023.

Plan of Correction: We will ask the parent for the updated record. We will follow up with all children under the age of two to ensure we have an updated immunization record every six months.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-340-C
Description: Based on observation, the bathroom the children use did not contain liquid soap.
Observation
No liquid soap was observed, the caregiver stated the children use the bar of soap that was on the counter.

Plan of Correction: We will only use liquid soap and single use paper towels for the children.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-520-B
Description: Based on observation, the family day home placed a child in crib and used it as play space.
Evidence
A child was awake and playing in a crib in the childcare area where the other children were actively playing.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure to never put a child in a crib to play.
