8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Comments:
A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was initiated on September 27, 2022, from 10am to approximately 11:20am. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental Inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. The violation listed on the violation notice issued to the family day home was reviewed with the owner at the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-250-B
Description: Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that within the first 90 days of employment or service all caregivers shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff sponsored by the Department of Education.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2 does not have the Virginia Preservice Training completed and has been working with the children in care for over 90 days.
2. Staff #1 confirmed that Staff #2 has not completed the Virginia Preservice Training.

Plan of Correction: The vendorresponded with the following: Provider will ensure that Staff #1 complete the Virginia Preservice and that the annual 3 hour training be completed as well.
