An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on January 28, 2020 from approximately 3:20 PM to 4:25 PM to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The site director was present for the inspection. There were 25 school-age children in care at the time of the inspection. There were 3 staff members working directly with the children. The staff were observed to be engaged with the children in age appropriate activities and to be meeting the needs of the children in care. Afternoon snacks are provided by the facility. The facility had the following posted: license, emergency numbers, evacuation maps/procedures, daily schedule, menu, and various parent information. There were no medications on site. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected. 5 children's records were reviewed. Staff records were reviewed previously at the administrative office. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-E Description: Based on observation and a staff interview, the center did not maintain the required non-medical emergency supplies. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed there was not a working, battery operated radio available during the inspection. 2. During an interview with the licensing inspector, administrative staff reported there were no additional batteries at the center to replace the non-working batteries in the radio. Plan of Correction: Administration will purchase new batteries for the radio.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on a review of records, the center did not implement a monthly practice evacuation drill. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed the emergency evacuation drill log did not contain documentation of evacuation drills being conducted in November 2019 and December 2019. Plan of Correction: Administration will ensure that fire drills are conducted and documented monthly.
Standard #: 22VAC40-80-120-E-2 Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that all documents related to the terms of the license were posted on the premises of the facility. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed the findings of the inspection dated 7/31/19 were posted at the facility. The findings for the most recent inspection of the facility, dated 10/17/19 were not posted at the facility. The findings of the most recent inspection of the facility are required to be posted on the premises of the facility. Plan of Correction: Administration will ensure that the most recent inspections of the facility are posted.
