Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A focused monitoring inspection was initiated on June 17, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were two children present and two staff. Previous areas of non-compliance were reviewed during this inspection. The Inspector reviewed two children?s records and two staff records to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-420-A
Description: Based on a review of the center's policies and procedures, the center did not ensure that information given to parents prior to enrollment was complete. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed that the parent handbook did not include the center's complete policy regarding unacceptable discipline measures.

Plan of Correction: Administration will update policies and procedures.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C
Description: Based on a review of the center's policies and procedures, the center did not ensure that the center's procedures for administering medications shall include procedures for nonprescription medications. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed that the center's procedures for medication administration did not include a policy that nonprescription medication administration will be consistent with the manufacturer's instructions for age, duration and dosage.

Plan of Correction: Administration will update policies and procedures.
