An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on February 5, 2024 between the hours of 11:45 am through 12:45pm. There were a total of four children (11 points) observed with one caregiver. A total of four children's files and two staff/household member's files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: toy play and other organized activities. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-700-A Description: Based on medication review and interview, the provider did not obtain written authorization from a parent to administer a medication for a child in care.
Evidence:
1. Child #1 has emergency medication on site. Child #1's record did not contain written authorization from the parent to administer medication.
2. Caregiver #1 confirmed that written parent authorization was not obtained from the parent.Plan of Correction: The provider will obtain written authorization from the parent and physician to administer medication.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-C Description: Based on review of documentation and interview, documentation was not maintained of the shelter in place drills.
Evidence:
1. Documentation of two shelter in place drills was not available at the time of the inspection.
2. Caregiver #1 confirmed that two shelter in place drills were conducted, but the documentation was not available.Plan of Correction: The provider had documentation of the shelter in place drills in another location.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-50-A Description: Based on observation, the family day home did not keep a written record of children in attendance each day.
Evidence:
1. There were four children in attendance at the family day home. The written record of attendance only had one child checked in for the day.Plan of Correction: The provider will ensure to mark the arrival and departure times for the children in care as it happens.
