8VAC20-820 THE LICENSE.

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 04/25/2022. There were 4 children present and 1 caregiver. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection in addition to an in-person component. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records 4 caregiver records, along with any requested program records submitted by the facility to determine if required documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-280
Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure all poisonous materials were inaccessible to children in care.
Evidence:
There was a bottle of disinfectant wipes on the toilet tank in the bathroom.

Plan of Correction: The disinfectant wipes were moved to an inaccessible location during the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-320-A
Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure small electrical appliances were unplugged when not in use.
Evidence:
A toaster and kettle were plugged into the electrical outlet in the kitchen.

Plan of Correction: The appliances were unplugged during the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-530-B
Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure when cribs are being used by infants they had a tight-fitting bottom cover.
Evidence:
When the inspector arrived at the home, one of the cribs had a loose mattress sheet that had come off of the mattress on one side. There was a child occupying the crib at the time.

Plan of Correction: The licensee had not realized the mattress sheet had come loose. The cover was placed back over the mattress and pulled tightly. When children are in cribs, the licensee will check the cribs to ensure each sheet is securely on the mattress.

Standard #: 8VAC20-820-120-E-2
Description: Based on observation and interview the licensee did not ensure the findings from the most recent inspection was posted.
Evidence:
The findings from the most recent inspection was not posted on the parent board or entrance of the facility. The caregiver confirmed it was not posted visibly.

Plan of Correction: The caregiver did not have room on her parent board and placed the inspection in a folder near the entrance. The caregiver will begin keeping the last inspection notice in an area that is visible to parents when they enter the daycare.
