Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 06/13/2024. Two licensing staff were on site from approximately 10:10am until 2:10pm. There were 120 children present with 22 staff supervising. There was a total of 10 classrooms visited, ranging in ages from infants to school age. Children were observed in variety of activities including art activities, playing with building blocks, coloring, outdoor play and water play. Inspectors interacted with staff and children in care. Staff interacted with children in a positive manner.

The inspectors reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 10 child records and 12 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. If you have any questions, please reach out to the licensing inspector

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-4
Description: Based on record review and interview, the child day center did not ensure to obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check and a search of the child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.
Evidence:
1. Review of the sworn statement for staff 5 documented a state in which the staff resided in the past five years.
2. Record of staff 5 did not contain documentation of an out of state central registry search and a search of the child abuse and neglect registry.
3. Director stated that the out of state searches had not been requested.

Plan of Correction: The out of state Central Registry and Child Abuse and Neglect Registry has been
mailed for the staff that resided in a different state. To prevent this is the future, the directors will be diligent about reviewing each applicant's paperwork required by the state of Virginia, and question every staff about any residency outside of the state in the past five years.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Description: Based on review of child records, the center did not ensure that a written care plan be maintained for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.
Evidence:
1. Child 8 had a diagnosed food allergy on their physical and child registration form.
2. A written care plan signed by a physician was not found in the child?s record.
3. Leadership acknowledged there was no allergy care plan for the child.

Plan of Correction: MACC immediately called the parent of the child that an egg allergy listed on their
medical form. We explained that even though no medication is required if the child
ingests eggs, we still need an allergy plan from the doctor in case of any adverse
reaction. To prevent this in the future, the directors will check the allergy section of every incoming student's medical and require an allergy plan if there is any allergy
documented on the physical form.
