Comments:
An unannounced focused monitoring inspection was conducted on 05/09/2023. There were 12 non-resident children and 1 resident child, ages 4 months-3 years, totaling 32 points, and three caregivers present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, personnel, physical equipment and environment, care of children, preventing the spread of disease, and nutrition. A total of 5 children?s records were reviewed. The children were observed during breakfast and in free choice activities. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 9:35 am and departed at 11:00 am.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-900-B
Description: REPEAT VIOLATION

Based on observation, the provider failed to ensure that children shall not be allowed to eat or drink while walking, running, playing, lying down or riding in vehicles.

Evidence: Child 5 was observed drinking from a cup and eating a cereal bar while walking around in the meal service area.

Plan of Correction: Will discuss and make the changes.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-960-E
Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to ensure that bottles shall be refrigerated and labeled with the child?s full name and the date, if more than one infant is in care.

Evidence: There were two unrefrigerated, unlabeled, and undated bottles in the room used by the children. There were 2 infants in care during the inspection.

Plan of Correction: Will label the bottles.
