Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:25am-12:00pm. There were 22 children directly supervised by 4 staff. The physical plant, staff records, children?s records, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, playing ping pong, playdough and playing outside. Self care and hand- washing procedures were also observed. There was an ample supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A
Description: Based on record review, child record was incomplete.

Evidence:
Child A's record is missing parents place of employment and phone number.

Plan of Correction: We will get missing information at pick up.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-480-B
Description: Based on record review, center did not maintain written permission from parent of children who participate in swimming with a parent statement of child's swimming skills.

Evidence:
The was no parent statement of child's swimming skills on the signed permission slips for permission for children who will be swimming.

Plan of Correction: I will add level to forms and have parents sign at pick up.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-G
Description: Based on record review and interview, documentation for emergency evacuation, shelter in place and lock down drills we not available.

Evidence:
Drill logs could not be located during the inspection.

Plan of Correction: We did the drills and I handed file to the owner. When he gets here we will find it.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-P
Description: Based on record review, required information was not maintained on child injury reports.
Evidence:
4 of 4 accident reports reviewed were missing date and time, method parent notified and parent/ teacher signatures.

Plan of Correction: We will remind closer to get parent signatures.
