Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 7/8/24. At the time of entrance, 4 children in care with the provider and assistant provider. The record sample size consisted of 3 children's records and the provider's record and the assistant's record. The children in care were observed engaging with the provider, participating in educational activities and free play. There have been no injuries since the last inspection and no medications are being administered at this time. Areas of noncompliance are noted in the violation narrative and were discussed with the provider during the exit meeting at the conclusion of the inspection.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-C
Description: Based on record review and interview it was determined the provider did not document all emergency evacuation drills.
Evidence:
1. There was no documentation of the evacuation drill practiced in June 2024.
2. Provider confirmed it was practiced but had not written down the date.

Plan of Correction: Provider will ensure all drills are documented.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-60-B
Description: Based on record review and interview it was determined the provider did not ensure that children's records contained all the required information.
Evidence:
1. The records for child #1 and child #2 did not contain medical insurance policy information and information on previously attended programs.
2. Provider confirmed this information was not available during this inspection.

Plan of Correction: Provider will request information from parents.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-240-A
Description: Based on observation and interview it was determined the provider did not ensure all areas and furnishings of the family day home, inside and outside, were maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
Evidence:
1. In the outdoor play space there was a corner piece of vinyl siding on the exterior of the home that was broken at child level.
2. Provider confirmed this needed to be repaired.

Plan of Correction: Provider will have the broken piece of vinyl siding replaced or repaired.
