Technical Assistance:
Discussed the procedure to follow up regarding Central Registry results. Inform the Licensing Inspector upon receipt of the CRS results. Discussed supervision and policies to ensure caregiver does not exceed 16 points without an additional caregiver.

Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. The statutory requirement can be found online at https://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title22.1/chapter14.1/section22.1-289.057/. Resources are now available for providers on the "What's New" webpage on the ChildCareVA website at https://www.childcare.virginia.gov/providers/what-s-new.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 06/06/2024 from 8:50am to 9:21am. There were 8 children directly supervised by 2 caregivers. The home, 1 caregiver record, 8 children?s records, evacuation drills, menu, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely and eating breakfast. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Contact Diana.Desilva@doe.virginia.gov if you have any questions regarding this inspection.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-60-B
Description: Based on children's record review, 1 of 8 children's records did not contain the address of two designated persons to contact in case of an emergency if the parent cannot be reached.

Evidence:
Child #1's record was missing the addresses for two designated emergency contacts.

Plan of Correction: The provider will contact the parents today and complete the child's record with the required emergency contact information.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-280
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not store away potentially poisonous substances,
cleaning agents, and disinfectants in an area inaccessible to children.

Evidence:
1. Four tubes of toothpaste was on the bathroom counter by the sink accessible to the children.
2. Poisonous substances, including cleaning agents and personal care products, were stored in an unlocked cabinet under the bathroom sink that was accessible to children.

Plan of Correction: The caregiver put away the items and locked the cabinet during the inspection.
