Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure medications, including the medications for household members, were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:

1. Multiple packets of aspirin were observed in the first aid kit. The first aid kit was kept in the unlocked closet in the living room.
2. Household medications were observed in the unlocked kitchen cabinet.
3. The provider acknowledged the medication were unlocked.

Plan of Correction: Per the provider: My parents are coming over today to help me install the child safety locks on the cabinet. While the inspector was on site, the provider's mother arrived to assist in installing the locks on the cabinet. The aspirin packets were removed from the first aid kits and placed with the other household medications.
