8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Comments:
An announced new SHSI inspection was conducted on 3/25/2024 from 11:20 to 12:10. The vendor had 3 children in care. two of the children were napping at the beginning of the inspection. The other child was snacking on apples and playing with cares. The vendor has a large space for care with toys and materials for the children to explore. Interaction between the vendor and children were observed. Children bring food from home. A violation notice was given to the vendor along with this inspection summary,

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-390-E
Description: Based on the physical review of the space, the vendor failed to have a non absorbent diaper changing pad.
Evidence: The diaper mat used to change diapers were covered by a terry cloth cover, the vendor stated that it is washed every Friday. The material can not be sanitized after each use.

Plan of Correction: Removed during the inspection, i will use the plastic changing pad from now on.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-410-B-2
Description: Based on the review of the non-emergency supplies, the vendor does not have a battery operated radio that works.
Evidence: The radio the vendor has is not working and has batteries that are corroded.

Plan of Correction: I will purchase a new radio.
