Technical Assistance:
The following were discussed with the provider:
- termination of care policies for parents and provider decision
- USDA menu components
- lack of visibility behind shed in yard

City of Norfolk inspection scheduled for June 18th.

Comments:
An initial inspection was initiated and concluded June 11, 2024. The inspector arrived at 11:15 AM and departed at 12:55 PM. There were no children resent. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 caregiver household records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with an applicable standard and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. The violation was reviewed with the provider during the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-240-A
Description: Based upon observation, the provider has not ensured that areas outside of the family day home are maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence;
There was one area in the left corner of the backyard and two area along the side fence of the backyard where poison ivy was growing abundantly.

Plan of Correction: The provider responded with the following:
All evidence of poison ivy will be removed (6/15/2024, left corner of backyard and two areas along side of fence) and the areas will be treated to prevent the spread of any new growth,
