Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A renewal inspection was initiated on March 3, 2021 and concluded on March 11, 2021. The Co-Executive Director by email to initiate the inspection. The agency reported 34 children in care and 44 approved foster provider homes. The agency reports no new staff since the last inspection. The inspector emailed the Co-Executive Director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed 4 complete child records, 4 complete foster home provider records and 1 employee record submitted by the agency to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection did not determine any non-compliance with applicable standards or law. Results of the inspection are subject to public disclosure and will be posted on the Virginia Department of Social Services public website within five business days, regardless of whether or not the Plan of Correction is completed.

Description: Violation: Based on the review of the file for Staff-1 (S-1), the licensee failed to develop a written training program listing topics to be covered during the period of time the individual is a trainee.

Findings:
1. Based on the review of the file, there was no written training program listing topics to be covered during the period of time S-1 is a trainee.
2. During the exit interview, AR-1, AR-2 and AR-3 acknowledged the absence of a written training program listing topics to be covered during the period of time S-1 is a trainee.

Plan of Correction: The Director of Human Resources and Contracts will ensure that there is a written training plan when a Clinical Specialist Trainee is employed by Extra Special Parents. She will instruct all managers to follow this training plan for the first year of employment and ensure documentation in their HR file.
