Comments:

An unannounced complaint inspection was conducted on October 9, 2019, from approximately 9:40am to 4:20pm at the Alexandria office of United Methodist Children's Services (UMFS). The complaint was related to services provided to a youth and provider, the youth's removal from the provider home and the subsequent closing of the provider home. The agency reports 10 children in care and 28 approved provider homes. During this inspection, 1 provider home record and 1 foster youth record was reviewed. Two staff were interviewed during the inspection. The regional director and family systems coordinator were available for the inspection and present for the exit interview which commenced at 3:35pm on 10/09/2019. The vice president of community based services participated in the exit interview via telephone. An acknowledgement form was left at the end of the inspection. The complaint is deemed as not valid and there were no citations for violations of the Standards for Child-Placing Agencies.
